Your laws are my treasure; they are my heart’s delight. | I have inherited Your testimonies forever, For they are the joy of my heart. |
For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs. | The Lord your God is in your midst, A victorious warrior. He will rejoice over you with joy, He will be quiet in His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy. |

And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love. | And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. |
But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture. | But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings; and you will go forth and frolic like calves from the stall. |
Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. | Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. |
For I assisted the poor in their need and the orphans who required help. I helped those without hope, and they blessed me. And I caused the widows’ hearts to sing for joy. | Because I saved the poor who cried for help, And the orphan who had no helper. The blessing of the one who was about to perish came upon me, And I made the widow’s heart sing for joy. |
The grapevines have dried up, and the fig trees have withered. The pomegranate trees, palm trees, and apple trees— all the fruit trees—have dried up. And the people’s joy has dried up with them. | The vine has dried up And the fig tree has withered; The pomegranate, the palm also, and the apple tree, All the trees of the field have dried up. Indeed, joy has dried up From the sons of mankind. |
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! | But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. |
And Nehemiah continued, “Go and celebrate with a feast of rich foods and sweet drinks, and share gifts of food with people who have nothing prepared. This is a sacred day before our Lord. Don’t be dejected and sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!” | Then he said to them, “Go, eat the festival foods, drink the sweet drinks, and send portions to him who has nothing prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your refuge.” |
And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.” | And behold, a voice from the heavens said, “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” |
In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away! | I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance. |
When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer. | When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Your comfort delights my soul. |
We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. | Looking only at Jesus, the originator and perfecter of the faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. |
A wise child brings joy to a father; a foolish child brings grief to a mother. | A wise son makes a father glad, But a foolish son is a grief to his mother. |
The father of godly children has cause for joy. What a pleasure to have children who are wise. | The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice, And he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him. |
The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’ | His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter the joy of your master.’ |
The hopes of the godly result in happiness, but the expectations of the wicked come to nothing. | The hope of the righteous is gladness, But the expectation of the wicked perishes. |
But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God. | But I do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself, so that I may finish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify solemnly of the gospel of God’s grace. |
Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. | Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. |
In my distress I prayed to the Lord, and the Lord answered me and set me free. | From my distress I called upon the Lord; The Lord answered me and put me in an open space. |

For I have given rest to the weary and joy to the sorrowing. | For I give plenty of water to the weary ones, and refresh everyone who languishes. |
Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! | Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! |
Those who are victorious will sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat with my Father on his throne. | The one who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat with My Father on His throne. |
And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength. | And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength. |
