And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. | Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which separated and came to rest on each one of them. I am not worthy to carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. |
| And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. | In the netherworld, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham, far off, and Lazarus by his side. And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me. Send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in agony in these flames.’ |
