For unto us a child is born (2/4)

Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit.The birth of Jesus Christ occurred in this way. When his mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, but before they came to live together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.
Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness!Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory because of your kindness and faithfulness.
By faith Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised.By faith Abraham also received the power of procreation, even though he was well past the age—and Sarah herself was barren—because he believed that the one who had made the promise would be faithful in fulfilling it.
For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison.Our temporary light afflictions are preparing for us an incomparable weight of eternal glory.

All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).All this took place in order to fulfill what the Lord had announced through the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and give birth to a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel,” a name that means “God is with us.”
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.Therefore, you will be given this sign by the Lord himself: The virgin will be with child, and she will give birth to a son, and she will name him Immanuel.
You shall not mistreat any widow or fatherless child. If you do mistreat them, and they cry out to me, I will surely hear their cry, and my wrath will burn, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wives shall become widows and your children fatherless.You shall not oppress the widow or the orphan. If you mistreat them and they cry out to me for help, I will surely hear their cry, and my fury will burn and I will put you to death by the sword. Your wives will be widows and your children will be orphans.
Hear, my son, and accept my words, that the years of your life may be many.Listen, my son, and take my words to heart, and the years of your life will be multiplied.
For the Lord is our judge; the Lord is our lawgiver; the Lord is our king; he will save us.For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver. The Lord is our king; he is the one who will save us.

And rend your hearts and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster.Rend your hearts and not your garments, and turn back to the Lord, your God. For he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, rich in kindness, and always prepared to relent from punishing.
