For unto us a child is born (2/4)

And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. This is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But before the marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit.
No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us.
Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters.
He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.
For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds. For your unfailing love is as high as the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
For the Lord your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if ye return unto him.For the Lord your God is gracious and merciful. If you return to him, he will not continue to turn his face from you.
Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child. If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry; And my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless. You must not exploit a widow or an orphan. If you exploit them in any way and they cry out to me, then I will certainly hear their cry. My anger will blaze against you, and I will kill you with the sword. Then your wives will be widows and your children fatherless.
For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation.
For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake. For you have been given not only the privilege of trusting in Christ but also the privilege of suffering for him.
And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.
But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets.
Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave of sin.”
For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right, and his ears are open to their prayers. But the Lord turns his face against those who do evil.
Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the Lord thy God chasteneth thee.Think about it: Just as a parent disciplines a child, the Lord your God disciplines you for your own good.
And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.And the Lord our God commanded us to obey all these decrees and to fear him so he can continue to bless us and preserve our lives, as he has done to this day.
My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine.My child, if your heart is wise, my own heart will rejoice!
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.
Nevertheless for thy great mercies' sake thou didst not utterly consume them, nor forsake them; for thou art a gracious and merciful God.But in your great mercy, you did not destroy them completely or abandon them forever. What a gracious and merciful God you are!
And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.“Don’t tear your clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead.” Return to the Lord your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish.

Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.
