- Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean;
Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes.
Cease to do evil. - The Lord is merciful and gracious,
Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy. - For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword,
Nor did their own arm save them;
But it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your countenance,
Because You favored them. - Give to everyone who asks of you. And from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back.
- Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished,
But he who gathers by labor will increase. - And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
- And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.
- So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.
- Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.
- And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
- Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
If I ascend into heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. - For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, so that you may be established— that is, that I may be encouraged together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.
- So rend your heart, and not your garments;
Return to the Lord your God,
For He is gracious and merciful,
Slow to anger, and of great kindness;
And He relents from doing harm. - Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.
- Return and tell Hezekiah the leader of My people, ‘Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the Lord.”’
