Bible Verses about 'Himself'

He gave himself for us in order to deliver us from all iniquity and to purify for himself a people as his own who are eager to do good.He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.
However, each one of you should love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife should respect her husband. So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
May the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.Now may the Lord of peace himself give you his peace at all times and in every situation. The Lord be with you all.
In the same way, husbands should love their wives as they do their own bodies. The man who loves his wife loves himself. In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself.
And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a sacrificial offering whose fragrance is pleasing to God.Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.
All this has been done by God, who has reconciled us to himself through Christ and entrusted us with the ministry of reconciliation. And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him.
The Spirit himself bears witness with our Spirit that we are children of God.For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.
Therefore, you will be given this sign by the Lord himself: The virgin will be with child, and she will give birth to a son, and she will name him Immanuel. All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’).
Though he was in the form of God, he did not regard equality with God as something to be grasped. Rather, he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness. Being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient to death, even death on a cross.Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.
In other words, God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, and not holding people’s transgressions against them, and he committed to us the message of reconciliation. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation.
Let no one delude himself. If anyone among you considers himself to be wise by worldly standards, he must become a fool in order to be truly wise.Stop deceiving yourselves. If you think you are wise by this world’s standards, you need to become a fool to be truly wise.
While experiencing temptation, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one.And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, “God is tempting me.” God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else.
And now it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. The life I live now in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself up for me.My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live in righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.
How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from acts that lead to death so that we may worship the living God.Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God. For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ offered himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the Church and gave himself up for her in order to sanctify her by cleansing her with water and the word. For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word.
Then he said to all who were with him, “Anyone who wishes to follow me must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me.”Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.”
He then called the people and his disciples to him and said to them, “Anyone who wishes to follow me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.”Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.”
He is himself the sacrifice for our sins— and not only for our sins but also for the sins of the whole world. He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.
If anyone would boast, let him boast in the Lord. For it is not the one who commends himself who is really approved, but the one whom the Lord commends. As the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the Lord.” When people commend themselves, it doesn’t count for much. The important thing is for the Lord to commend them.
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and man, Christ Jesus, himself a man. For, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus.
As a result, you are no longer strangers and foreigners. Rather, you are fellow citizens of the saints and members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone. So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family. Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself.
A generous person will be enriched; he who refreshes others will also be refreshed. The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.
After you have suffered for a brief period, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and support you.In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.
In the same way, even the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with sighs that cannot be put into words. And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.

Adulterers! Do you not know that love of the world results in enmity with God? Therefore, whoever wishes to be a lover of the world makes himself an enemy of God.You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God.
