| No one has seen God at any time. The only born Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, has declared him. | No one has ever seen God. It is the only Son, God, who is at the Father’s side, who has made him known. |
| If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in the darkness, we lie and don’t tell the truth. | If we claim that we have fellowship with him while we continue to live in darkness, we are lying and do not live in the truth. |
| But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God’s children, to those who believe in his name. | However, to those who did accept him and who believed in his name he granted the power to become children of God. |
| This is the boldness which we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. | And thus we can have confidence in him that if we ask anything that is in accordance with his will, he hears us. |
| For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world: your faith. | For everyone born of God conquers the world. And the victory that conquers the world is our faith. |

| And if we know that he listens to us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him. | And if we know that he hears us in regard to whatever we ask him, we may be sure that all we ask of him will be ours. |
| As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on me will also live because of me. | Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so whoever feeds upon me will live because of me. |
| The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly. | A thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come that they may have life, and have it in abundance. |
| But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his works may be revealed, that they have been done in God. | However, whoever lives by the truth comes to the light so that it may be clearly seen that his deeds have been done in God. |
| Jesus answered, “Most certainly I tell you, unless one is born of water and Spirit, he can’t enter into God’s Kingdom.” | Jesus said, “Amen, amen, I say to you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.” |
