| Oh, that they would always have hearts like this, that they might fear me and obey all my commands! | The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm. | The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to keep still. |

| So you see, the Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their trials, even while keeping the wicked under punishment until the day of final judgment. | Then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trial, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment. |
| Lord, don’t hold back your tender mercies from me. Let your unfailing love and faithfulness always protect me. | Do not, O Lord, withhold your mercy from me; let your steadfast love and your faithfulness keep me safe forever. |
