Lift up your eyes (2/4)

My son, be attentive to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Let them not escape from your sight; keep them within your heart.My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart.
And in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any scorching heat. The sun will not beat down on them,’ nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; ‘he will lead them to springs of living water.’ ‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’
Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you, I give men in return for you, peoples in exchange for your life.Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life.
And I will vindicate the holiness of my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, and which you have profaned among them. And the nations will know that I am the Lord, declares the Lord God, when through you I vindicate my holiness before their eyes.I will show the holiness of my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, the name you have profaned among them. Then the nations will know that I am the Lord, declares the Sovereign Lord, when I am proved holy through you before their eyes.
And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
When I thought, “My foot slips,” your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up.When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your unfailing love, Lord, supported me.
Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses.Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs.
And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.
If you will diligently listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, your healer.If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.

But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.
Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love.But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love.
And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”

Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God.Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God’s slaves.

Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
