For I long to see you so that I may impart some spiritual gift to you, that you may be established; that is, that I may be encouraged together with you while among you, each of us by the other’s faith, both yours and mine. | For I am longing to see you so that I may bestow on you some spiritual gift to strengthen you— or, rather, so that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine. |
And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup, which is poured out for you, is the new covenant in My blood.” | And he did the same with the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which will be poured out for you.” |
For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in mercy to all who call upon You. | O Lord, you are kind and forgiving, filled with kindness for all who cry to you. |

For You light my lamp; The Lord my God illumines my darkness. | You, O Lord, are light for my lamp; O my God, you make my darkness turn to light. |
Because Your favor is better than life, My lips will praise You. So I will bless You as long as I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name. | Your kindness is a greater joy than life itself; thus my lips will speak your praise. I will bless you all my life; with uplifted hands I will call on your name. |
God, You are my God; I shall be watching for You; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and exhausted land where there is no water. | O God, you are my God, for whom I have been searching earnestly. Indeed, while following the way of Your judgments, Lord, We have waited for You eagerly; Your name, and remembering You, is the desire of our souls. | As we proceed in the path of your judgments, we wait for you, O Lord; your name and your renown are all that our heart desires. |
For you have been called for this purpose, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you would follow in His steps. | This, in fact, is what you have been called to do, because Christ himself suffered for you and left an example for you to follow in his footsteps. |
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. | Even though I wander through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are at my side, with your rod and your staff that comfort me. |
But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Too little to be among the clans of Judah, From you One will come forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His times of coming forth are from long ago, From the days of eternity. | But from you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, among the tiniest of the clans of Judah, from you will come forth for me one who is to be a ruler in Israel, one whose origins are from the distant past, from ancient times. |
For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under the Law but under grace. | For sin is no longer to have any power over you, since you are not under the Law but under grace. |
And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body, which is being given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” | Then he took bread, and after giving thanks he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which will be given for you. Do this in memory of me.” |
Oh, Lord God! Behold, You Yourself have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for You. | Ah, Lord God, you made the heavens and the earth by your great power and your outstretched arm. Nothing is impossible for you. |
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus. | Rejoice always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus. |
I love the Lord, because He hears My voice and my pleas. Nevertheless, in Your great compassion You did not make an end of them or abandon them, For You are a gracious and compassionate God. | Yet even so, because of your great compassion, you did not completely destroy them, nor did you forsake them, for you are a gracious and merciful God. |
And may the Lord cause you to increase and overflow in love for one another, and for all people, just as we also do for you. | May the Lord cause your love to increase and overflow for one another and for everyone else, just as our love does for you. |
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light. | Once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light. |
For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised. | You need to be steadfast if you want to do the will of God and receive what he has promised. |
‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for prosperity and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.’ | For I know full well the plans I have for you, plans for your welfare and not for your misfortune, plans that will offer you a future filled with hope. |
Since you are precious in My sight, Since you are honored and I love you, I will give other people in your place and other nations in exchange for your life. | Because in my eyes you are precious, because you are honored and I love you, I will give people in exchange for you and nations in return for your life. |
