| God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Does he promise and not fulfill? |
| As in water face reflects face, So a man’s heart reveals the man. | As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart. |
| It is a snare for a man to devote rashly something as holy, And afterward to reconsider his vows. | It is a trap to dedicate something rashly and only later to consider one’s vows. |
| Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death, and deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock and to scourge and to crucify.
