But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God. | But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God. |
My child, if your heart is wise, my own heart will rejoice! | My son, if your heart is wise, My heart will rejoice—indeed, I myself. |
|
For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs. | The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing. |
God places the lonely in families; he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy. But he makes the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land. | God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity; But the rebellious dwell in a dry land. |
Hear my prayer, O Lord! Listen to my cries for help! Don’t ignore my tears. For I am your guest— a traveler passing through, as my ancestors were before me. | Hear my prayer, O Lord, And give ear to my cry; Do not be silent at my tears; For I am a stranger with You, A sojourner, as all my fathers were. |
And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations. | I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them. |
Our hearts ache, but we always have joy. We are poor, but we give spiritual riches to others. We own nothing, and yet we have everything. | As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things. |
Come and listen to my counsel. I’ll share my heart with you and make you wise. | Turn at my rebuke; Surely I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you. |
But in my distress I cried out to the Lord; yes, I prayed to my God for help. He heard me from his sanctuary; my cry to him reached his ears. | In my distress I called upon the Lord, And cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry came before Him, even to His ears. |
Anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him. | He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. |
Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and my God! | Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God. |
I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. | Truly my soul silently waits for God; From Him comes my salvation. |
When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. | If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. |
Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the Lord! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation! | Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls— Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. |
Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. | My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him. |
When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long. | When I kept silent, my bones grew old Through my groaning all the day long. |
Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.” And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. | I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah |
You must keep my Sabbath days of rest and show reverence for my sanctuary. I am the Lord. | You shall keep My Sabbaths and reverence My sanctuary: I am the Lord. |
The Lord is my light and my salvation— so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? | The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? |
You know what I long for, Lord; you hear my every sigh. | Lord, all my desire is before You; And my sighing is not hidden from You. |
But you, O Lord, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high. | But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head. |
You are my rock and my fortress. For the honor of your name, lead me out of this danger. | For You are my rock and my fortress; Therefore, for Your name’s sake, Lead me and guide me. |
If you love me, obey my commandments. | If you love Me, keep My commandments. |
When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father. | By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. |
But God is my helper. The Lord keeps me alive! | Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is with those who uphold my life. |
