Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. | By this we know that we remain in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. |
And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment. | When he has come, he will convict the world about sin, about righteousness, and about judgment. |
For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. | For this is the message which you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. |
And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. | The testimony is this: that God gave to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. |
If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth. | If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in the darkness, we lie and don’t tell the truth. |
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. | Everyone who sins also commits lawlessness. Sin is lawlessness. |
