Own (3/4)

Then Peter asked, “Ananias, why has Satan so gained control of your heart that you lied to the Holy Spirit and retained part of the sale price of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not belong to you? And after it was sold, were not the proceeds yours? What caused you to contrive this scheme? You have lied not to men but to God.”“Ananias,” Peter asked, “why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back part of the proceeds of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, were not the proceeds at your disposal? How is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You did not lie to us but to God!”
You shall be holy, for I, the Lord, am holy. I have chosen you from among all people that you shall be mine. You shall be holy to me; for I the Lord am holy, and I have separated you from the other peoples to be mine.
For it is by grace that you have been saved through faith. This has not come from you but from the gift of God. It does not come from works, so that no one can boast. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God— not the result of works, so that no one may boast.
Be doers of the word and not just hearers who only deceive themselves. But be doers of the word, and not merely hearers who deceive themselves.
What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his very life? Or what can he give in exchange for his life? For what will it profit them if they gain the whole world but forfeit their life? Or what will they give in return for their life?
Exhort slaves to be submissive to their masters and to give them satisfaction in every respect. They are not to talk back to them, nor are they to steal from them. Rather, they should show themselves to be completely trustworthy so that in every way they may add luster to the doctrine of God our Savior.Tell slaves to be submissive to their masters and to give satisfaction in every respect; they are not to talk back, not to pilfer, but to show complete and perfect fidelity, so that in everything they may be an ornament to the doctrine of God our Savior.
Like a city that has been breached and made defenseless is the man devoid of self-control.Like a city breached, without walls, is one who lacks self-control.
He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live in righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that, free from sins, we might live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
Indeed, it is seldom that anyone will die for a just person, although perhaps for a good person someone might be willing to die. Thus, God proved his love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us.Indeed, rarely will anyone die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person someone might actually dare to die. But God proves his love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us.
How great you are, Lord God! There is no one like you, and there is no God except you alone, as everything that we have heard confirms. Therefore you are great, O Lord God; for there is no one like you, and there is no God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
The Lord will fulfill his plan for me. Your kindness, O Lord, endures forever; do not forsake the work of your hands. The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.
However, each one of you should love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife should respect her husband. Each of you, however, should love his wife as himself, and a wife should respect her husband.
If anyone thinks that he is religious but does not restrain his tongue, he is deceiving himself, and his religion is worthless. If any think they are religious, and do not bridle their tongues but deceive their hearts, their religion is worthless.
Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not treat them harshly.Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and never treat them harshly.
My son, if your heart is wise, then my heart will be glad.My child, if your heart is wise, my heart too will be glad.
They exchanged the truth of God for a lie and offered worship and service to the creature rather than to the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. That is why God abandoned them to their shameful passions. Their women exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural practices. Likewise, men gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another. Men committed shameful acts with men and received in their own persons the fitting penalty for their perversion. Furthermore, since these people did not see fit to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their depraved way of thinking and to all types of vile behavior.Because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. For this reason God gave them up to degrading passions. Their women exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural, and in the same way also the men, giving up natural intercourse with women, were consumed with passion for one another. Men committed shameless acts with men and received in their own persons the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind and to things that should not be done.
May he give you your heart’s desire and grant you success in all your plans.May he grant you your heart's desire, and fulfill all your plans.
Not because of any righteous deeds on our part but because of his mercy, he saved us through the bath of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit. He saved us, not because of any works of righteousness that we had done, but according to his mercy, through the water of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.
Do not forsake your friend or the friend of your father, and do not run to your brother’s house when troubles befall you; far better is a friend nearby than a brother who is far away.Do not forsake your friend or the friend of your parent; do not go to the house of your kindred in the day of your calamity. Better is a neighbor who is nearby than kindred who are far away.
After this, he said to the crowd, “Take care to be on your guard against all kinds of greed. Life does not depend upon an abundance of one’s possessions.”And he said to them, “Take care! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; for one's life does not consist in the abundance of possessions.”
Whoever observes the commandments will live, but the one who scorns them will die. Those who keep the commandment will live; those who are heedless of their ways will die.
Thus you could understand that the Lord, your God, was disciplining you, just like a father disciplines his son.Know then in your heart that as a parent disciplines a child so the Lord your God disciplines you.
You shall obey his statutes and the commandments that I give you today, so that all may go well with you and your children after you, and that you may live long in the land that the Lord, your God, has given you for all time.Keep his statutes and his commandments, which I am commanding you today for your own well-being and that of your descendants after you, so that you may long remain in the land that the Lord your God is giving you for all time.
Then he said to all who were with him, “Anyone who wishes to follow me must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me.”Then he said to them all, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”
You shall not hate your brother in your heart, nor shall you rebuke your brother in any way, lest you bear sin because of him. You shall not seek vengeance nor bear a grudge against the children of your people. You shall love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord. You shall not hate in your heart anyone of your kin; you shall reprove your neighbor, or you will incur guilt yourself. You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against any of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.

and leads out prisoners amid chants of exultation,
