| For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. | The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. |
| The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God. | For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. |
