See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. | See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone. |
Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification. | Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. |
But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled. | But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled. |
Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him. | So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.” |
Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy. | Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. |
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. | And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. |
Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil. | Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes; cease to do evil. |
