| But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Your almsgiving must be done in secret. | With our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. | Now who is going to harm you if you are eager to do what is right? | And who is there to harm you if you prove zealous for what is good? |
| Let us never grow weary in doing what is right, for if we do not give up, we will reap our harvest in due time. | Let’s not become discouraged in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we do not become weary. |
| Because the sentence for committing an evil act is not carried out quickly, people’s hearts are prone to act wickedly. | Because the sentence against an evil deed is not executed quickly, therefore the hearts of the sons of mankind among them are fully given to do evil. |
| You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. | You call Me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord’; and you are correct, for so I am. |
| I have instructed you in the ways of wisdom and led you along the paths of righteousness. | I have instructed you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in upright paths. |

| Make sure that no one pays back evil for evil. Rather, always aim to achieve what is best for each other and for everyone. | See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek what is good for one another and for all people. |
| Each of us must consider his neighbor’s good for the purpose of building him up. | Each of us is to please his neighbor for his good, to his edification. |
