For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?

For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.
