If someone says, “I love God,” but at the same time hates his brother, he is a liar. For whoever does not love the brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen.If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen.
Filled with the Holy Spirit, Jesus returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the desert for forty days, where he was tempted by the devil. During that time he ate nothing, and at the end of it he was famished.And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness for forty days, being tempted by the devil. And he ate nothing during those days. And when they were ended, he was hungry.
A man is joyful when he utters apt answers, and even more satisfying is a word in season.To make an apt answer is a joy to a man, and a word in season, how good it is!
Do not be like your ancestors, to whom the prophets of that time proclaimed. Thus says the Lord of hosts: Forsake your evil ways and your evil deeds. But they refused to listen or to pay attention to me, says the Lord.Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets cried out, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, Return from your evil ways and from your evil deeds.’ But they did not hear or pay attention to me, declares the Lord.
God saved us and called us to a life of holiness, not because of our works but according to his own purpose and the grace that has been bestowed upon us in Christ Jesus from all eternity.Who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began.
And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Jesus answered, “Amen, I say to you, there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for my sake and for the sake of the gospel who will not receive in this age a hundred times more houses, brothers and sisters, mothers and children, and lands—as well as persecutions—and in the age to come, eternal life.”Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel, who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life.”
After Jesus had been born in Bethlehem of Judea during the reign of King Herod, wise men traveled from the east and arrived in Jerusalem, inquiring, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw the rising of his star, and we have come to pay him homage.”Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”
Preach the message; be persistent in doing so, whether in season or out of season; convince, reprove, and encourage, but with great patience and instruction.Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.
Once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.
That is why you also pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, and they devote themselves to this service.For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing.
Stay awake and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit is indeed willing, but the flesh is weak.Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
No prophecy ever came from human initiative. Rather, when people spoke as messengers of God, they did so under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
Therefore, he has the full power to save those who approach God through him, since he lives forever to intercede for them.Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.
During the day the Lord grants his kindness, and at night his praise is with me, a prayer to the living God.By day the Lord commands his steadfast love, and at night his song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life.
The misfortunes of the righteous man are many, but the Lord delivers him, from all of them.Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.
Meanwhile, the Church throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria enjoyed peace, building up strength and living in the fear of the Lord. Encouraged by the Holy Spirit, the Church grew in numbers.So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was being built up. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it multiplied.
Therefore, you must also be prepared, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
Now the works of the flesh are obvious: fornication, impurity, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, anger, quarrels, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you, as I warned you previously, that no one who does such things will inherit the kingdom of God.Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Wealth hastily acquired will dwindle away, but when amassed little by little, it will increase.Wealth gained hastily will dwindle, but whoever gathers little by little will increase it.
You have heard that it was said of old: ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that anyone who looks with lust at a woman has already committed adultery with her in his heart.You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Yet even now, says the Lord, return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.“Yet even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.”
There is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing secret that will not become known.Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known.
Every day, united in spirit, they would assemble together in the temple. They would break bread in their homes and share their food with joyful and generous hearts as they praised God, and they were regarded with favor by all the people. And day by day the Lord added to those who were being saved.And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.
I refrained from eating any choice food, abstaining from consuming meat or wine, and I did not anoint myself until those three weeks had passed.I ate no delicacies, no meat or wine entered my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, for the full three weeks.

Who has performed these deeds and accomplished this? Who has summoned the nations from the beginning? I, the Lord, am the first, and I will be there with the last.Who has performed and done this, calling the generations from the beginning? I, the Lord, the first, and with the last; I am he.
