Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking lies.Then keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies!
A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but deceit in it crushes the spirit.Gentle words are a tree of life; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.

If anyone among you thinks himself to be religious while he doesn’t bridle his tongue, but deceives his heart, this man’s religion is worthless.If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless.
My little children, let’s not love in word only, or with the tongue only, but in deed and truth.Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.
For, “He who would love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit. Let him turn away from evil and do good. Let him seek peace and pursue it.”For the Scriptures say, “If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies. Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it.”
He who walks blamelessly and does what is right, and speaks truth in his heart; he who doesn’t slander with his tongue, nor does evil to his friend, nor casts slurs against his fellow man.Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right, speaking the truth from sincere hearts. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the Lord; their vindication will come from me. I, the Lord, have spoken!
Tongues like fire appeared and were distributed to them, and one sat on each of them. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other languages, as the Spirit gave them the ability to speak.Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.
In the multitude of words there is no lack of disobedience, but he who restrains his lips does wisely.Too much talk leads to sin. Be sensible and keep your mouth shut.
If I speak with the languages of men and of angels, but don’t have love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
The words of a wise man’s mouth are gracious; but a fool is swallowed by his own lips.Wise words bring approval, but fools are destroyed by their own words.

He who guards his mouth guards his soul. One who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.Those who control their tongue will have a long life; opening your mouth can ruin everything.
Even a fool, when he keeps silent, is counted wise. When he shuts his lips, he is thought to be discerning.Even fools are thought wise when they keep silent; with their mouths shut, they seem intelligent.
For we all stumble in many things. Anyone who doesn’t stumble in word is a perfect person, able to bridle the whole body also.Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way.
