Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or expensive apparel, but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness. | In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. |
All these were continually devoting themselves with one mind to prayer, along with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers. | These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. |

And the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying.” | And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. |
For they exchanged the truth of God for falsehood, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged natural relations for that which is contrary to nature, and likewise the men, too, abandoned natural relations with women and burned in their desire toward one another, males with males committing shameful acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a depraved mind, to do those things that are not proper. | Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient. |
No one is to deceive you in any way! For it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God. | Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. |
But He was pierced for our offenses, He was crushed for our wrongdoings; The punishment for our well-being was laid upon Him, And by His wounds we are healed. | But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. |
I acknowledged my sin to You, And I did not hide my guilt; I said, “I will confess my wrongdoings to the Lord”; And You forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah | I acknowledge my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah. |
For no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God. | For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. |
God makes a home for the lonely; He leads out the prisoners into prosperity, Only the rebellious live in parched lands. | God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land. |
Go, gather all the Jews who are found in Susa, and fast for me; do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants also will fast in the same way. And then I will go in to the king, which is not in accordance with the law; and if I perish, I perish. | Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish. |
Rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer. | Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer. |
It is better to take refuge in the Lord Than to trust in people. | It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. |
Who is a God like You, who pardons wrongdoing And passes over a rebellious act of the remnant of His possession? He does not retain His anger forever, Because He delights in mercy. | Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. |
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. | Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. |
Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. | Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. |
I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, As much as in all riches. | I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches. |
The Lord is righteous in all His ways, And kind in all His works. | The Lord is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works. |
The one who eats My flesh and drinks My blood remains in Me, and I in him. | He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. |
Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe. | Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. |
Trust in the Lord and do good; Live in the land and cultivate faithfulness. | Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. |
For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. | For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. |
Not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord. | Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord. |
Therefore I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in distresses, in persecutions, in difficulties, in behalf of Christ; for when I am weak, then I am strong. | Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. |
We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him. | And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. |
The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in You. | Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. |
