- You are altogether beautiful, my love;
there is no flaw in you. - Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious.
- Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain,
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. - Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. - For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well. - But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”
- So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.
- Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works.
- The grass withers, the flower fades,
but the word of our God will stand forever. - For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
- Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
- So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.
And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.”
