| Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. | Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” |
| If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. | If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him. |
| And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. | And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. |
| I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. | I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. |

| I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. | I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. |
| Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? | Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. |
| Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. | For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. |
| This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. | Jesus is ‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.’ |
| If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. | If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. |
| Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. | You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. |
| Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. | You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. |
| While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. | While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!” |
| I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. | I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. |
| And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them. | I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them. |
| These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. | I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. |
| If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. | If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. |
| But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. | And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you. |
| And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. | We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. |
| Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me. | Jesus said, “I am with you for only a short time, and then I am going to the one who sent me.” |
| For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. | You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. |
| And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. | Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done. |
