| To him who is afflicted, kindness should be shown by his friend, Even though he forsakes the fear of the Almighty. | To him that is afflicted pity should be shewed from his friend; but he forsaketh the fear of the Almighty. |

| I have not departed from the commandment of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth More than my necessary food. | Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food. |
| But He knows the way that I take; When He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold. My foot has held fast to His steps; I have kept His way and not turned aside. | But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined. |
| As for the Almighty, we cannot find Him; He is excellent in power, In judgment and abundant justice; He does not oppress. | Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict. |
| Then Job arose, tore his robe, and shaved his head; and he fell to the ground and worshiped. And he said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked shall I return there. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord.” | Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord. |
| And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person.” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord. | And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord. |
| I have made a covenant with my eyes; Why then should I look upon a young woman? | I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid? |
| Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects; Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty. | Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty. |
| And the Lord restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before. | And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before. |
