Joy (2/2)

I have no greater joy than this, to hear that my children are walking in the truth.I could have no greater joy than to hear that my children are following the truth.
In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider; God has made the one as well as the other, so that mortals may not find out anything that will come after them.Enjoy prosperity while you can, but when hard times strike, realize that both come from God. Remember that nothing is certain in this life.
I know that there is nothing better for them than to be happy and enjoy themselves as long as they live; moreover, it is God's gift that all should eat and drink and take pleasure in all their toil.So I concluded there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can. And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God.
I delight in the way of your decrees as much as in all riches.I have rejoiced in your laws as much as in riches.
As for those who in the present age are rich, command them not to be haughty, or to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but rather on God who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.
The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who begets a wise son will be glad in him.The father of godly children has cause for joy. What a pleasure to have children who are wise.
As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing everything. Our hearts ache, but we always have joy. We are poor, but we give spiritual riches to others. We own nothing, and yet we have everything.
Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat and drink sweet wine and send portions of them to those for whom nothing is prepared, for this day is holy to our Lord; and do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”And Nehemiah continued, “Go and celebrate with a feast of rich foods and sweet drinks, and share gifts of food with people who have nothing prepared. This is a sacred day before our Lord. Don’t be dejected and sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!”
And not only that, but we also boast in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope.We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.
Go, eat your bread with enjoyment, and drink your wine with a merry heart; for God has long ago approved what you do.So go ahead. Eat your food with joy, and drink your wine with a happy heart, for God approves of this!
While he was still speaking, suddenly a bright cloud overshadowed them, and from the cloud a voice said, “This is my Son, the Beloved; with him I am well pleased; listen to him!”But even as he spoke, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy. Listen to him.”
But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for see—I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people.”But the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.”
My child, if your heart is wise, my heart too will be glad.My child, if your heart is wise, my own heart will rejoice!
The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is clear, enlightening the eyes. The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living.
Nevertheless, do not rejoice at this, that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven. But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven.
But for you who revere my name the sun of righteousness shall rise, with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall. But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture.
Deceit is in the mind of those who plan evil, but those who counsel peace have joy.Deceit fills hearts that are plotting evil; joy fills hearts that are planning peace!
Remember your creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come, and the years draw near when you will say, “I have no pleasure in them”.Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say, “Life is not pleasant anymore.”
Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance. In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!
The hope of the righteous ends in gladness, but the expectation of the wicked comes to nothing. The hopes of the godly result in happiness, but the expectations of the wicked come to nothing.
Just so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents. In the same way, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels when even one sinner repents.
Likewise all to whom God gives wealth and possessions and whom he enables to enjoy them, and to accept their lot and find enjoyment in their toil—this is the gift of God.And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life—this is indeed a gift from God.
The vine withers, the fig tree droops. Pomegranate, palm, and apple— all the trees of the field are dried up; surely, joy withers away among the people. The grapevines have dried up, and the fig trees have withered. The pomegranate trees, palm trees, and apple trees— all the fruit trees—have dried up. And the people’s joy has dried up with them.
A wise child makes a glad father, but a foolish child is a mother's grief.A wise child brings joy to a father; a foolish child brings grief to a mother.
