Proverbs 27 - WEB & NRSV

Don’t forsake your friend and your father’s friend. Don’t go to your brother’s house in the day of your disaster. A neighbor who is near is better than a distant brother.Do not forsake your friend or the friend of your parent; do not go to the house of your kindred in the day of your calamity. Better is a neighbor who is nearby than kindred who are far away.
A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge; but the simple pass on, and suffer for it.The clever see danger and hide; but the simple go on, and suffer for it.
Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens his friend’s countenance.Iron sharpens iron, and one person sharpens the wits of another.
Like water reflects a face, so a man’s heart reflects the man.Just as water reflects the face, so one human heart reflects another.

Bible verse of the day

Who is a God like you, who pardons iniquity,
and passes over the disobedience of the remnant of his heritage?
He doesn’t retain his anger forever,
because he delights in loving kindness.
