Righteousness (3/5)

There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death. There is a way which seems right to a person, But its end is the way of death.
God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name, by having served and by still serving the saints.
In you, Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in your righteousness. In You, Lord, I have taken refuge; Let me never be put to shame; In Your righteousness rescue me.
The lips of the righteous know what finds favor, but the mouth of the wicked only what is perverse. The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, But the mouth of the wicked, what is perverted.
But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners. Now go and learn what this means: ‘I desire compassion, rather than sacrifice,’ for I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.
I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.I will rejoice greatly in the Lord, My soul will be joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness, As a groom puts on a turban, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
Do not envy the violent or choose any of their ways. For the Lord detests the perverse but takes the upright into his confidence.Do not envy a violent person, And do not choose any of his ways. For the devious are an abomination to the Lord; But He is intimate with the upright.
“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”And He Himself brought our sins in His body up on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live for righteousness; by His wounds you were healed.
This is what the Lord Almighty said: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the foreigner or the poor. Do not plot evil against each other.’This is what the Lord of armies has said: ‘Dispense true justice and practice kindness and compassion each to his brother; and do not oppress the widow or the orphan, the stranger or the poor; and do not devise evil in your hearts against one another.’
“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything. All things are permitted for me, but not all things are of benefit. All things are permitted for me, but I will not be mastered by anything.
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.
The Lord is righteous in all his ways and faithful in all he does. The Lord is righteous in all His ways, And kind in all His works.
Lord, hear my prayer, listen to my cry for mercy; in your faithfulness and righteousness come to my relief.Hear my prayer, Lord, Listen to my pleadings! Answer me in Your faithfulness, in Your righteousness!
For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous. For as through the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous.
Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him! Therefore the Lord longs to be gracious to you, And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; How blessed are all those who long for Him.
Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.Vindicate the weak and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and destitute.
My soul yearns for you in the night; in the morning my spirit longs for you. When your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness. At night my soul longs for You, Indeed, my spirit within me seeks You diligently; For when the earth experiences Your judgments, The inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.
But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked. But the one who did not know it, and committed acts deserving of a beating, will receive only a few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask all the more.
Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.
But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and frolic like well-fed calves. But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings; and you will go forth and frolic like calves from the stall.
We who are Jews by birth and not sinful Gentiles know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified. We are Jews by nature and not sinners from the Gentiles; nevertheless, knowing that a person is not justified by works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the Law; since by works of the Law no flesh will be justified.
And if we are careful to obey all this law before the Lord our God, as he has commanded us, that will be our righteousness. And it will be righteousness for us if we are careful to follow all this commandment before the Lord our God, just as He commanded us.
Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in his ways. He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.The Lord is good and upright; Therefore He instructs sinners in the way. He leads the humble in justice, And He teaches the humble His way.
