So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead. | Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. |

Then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trial, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment. | The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished. |
Deliver me, O Lord, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue. | Deliver my soul, O Lord, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue. |
Proclaim the message; be persistent whether the time is favorable or unfavorable; convince, rebuke, and encourage, with the utmost patience in teaching. | Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. |
Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus. | Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. |
Shun youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. | Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. |
For who is God, but the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God? | For who is God, save the Lord? and who is a rock, save our God? |
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved by him, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly explaining the word of truth. | Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. |
The Lord makes poor and makes rich; he brings low, he also exalts. | The Lord maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up. |
Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with thanksgiving. | Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving. |
When pride comes, then comes disgrace; but wisdom is with the humble. | When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom. |
Then everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. | And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. |
Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. | Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. |
I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.” | O my soul, thou hast said unto the Lord, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee. |
