| If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. | If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. |
| If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. | If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. |

| As for you, see that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. | Therefore let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. |
| This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. | By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. |
| And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming. | And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming. |
| And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. | And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. |
| The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us. | Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us. |
| And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. | And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. |
| If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? | But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? |
| Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” | He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. | Moreover, when God gives someone wealth and possessions, and the ability to enjoy them, to accept their lot and be happy in their toil—this is a gift of God. | As for every man to whom God has given riches and wealth, and given him power to eat of it, to receive his heritage and rejoice in his labor—this is the gift of God. |
| One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and as his disciples walked along, they began to pick some heads of grain. The Pharisees said to him, “Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?” He answered, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need? In the days of Abiathar the high priest, he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions.” Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.” | Now it happened that He went through the grainfields on the Sabbath; and as they went His disciples began to pluck the heads of grain.
