And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. | And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. |
The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us. | Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us. |

If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. | Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. |
The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever. | And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. |
No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. | No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. |
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. | He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. |
I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. | I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. |
As for you, see that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. | Therefore let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. |
As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him. | But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him. |
This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. | By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. |
For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. | Having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever. |
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them. | He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him. |
Moreover, when God gives someone wealth and possessions, and the ability to enjoy them, to accept their lot and be happy in their toil—this is a gift of God. | As for every man to whom God has given riches and wealth, and given him power to eat of it, to receive his heritage and rejoice in his labor—this is the gift of God. |
One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and as his disciples walked along, they began to pick some heads of grain. The Pharisees said to him, “Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?” He answered, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need? In the days of Abiathar the high priest, he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions.” Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.” | Now it happened that He went through the grainfields on the Sabbath; and as they went His disciples began to pluck the heads of grain. And the Pharisees said to Him, “Look, why do they do what is not lawful on the Sabbath?” But He said to them, “Have you never read what David did when he was in need and hungry, he and those with him: how he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the showbread, which is not lawful to eat except for the priests, and also gave some to those who were with him?” And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.” |
