Whom do I have in heaven except you? And besides you there is nothing else I desire on earth. | Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You. |
Now in regard to the eating of meat sacrificed to idols, we know that idols are nothing in the world and that there is only one God. | Therefore concerning the eating of things offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one. |

Jesus answered, “If it is possible! All things are possible for one who has faith.” | Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” |
Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we can approach God with confidence and receive from him whatever we ask, because we obey his commandments and do whatever is pleasing to him. | Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God. And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. |
Dear children, keep away from idols. | Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen. |
You can eat any water creature that has fins and scales; those you can eat. Whatever does not have fins or scales, you are not to eat. It is unclean for you. | These you may eat of all that are in the waters: you may eat all that have fins and scales. And whatever does not have fins and scales you shall not eat; it is unclean for you. |
The entire community of believers was united in heart and soul. No one claimed any of his possessions as his own, for everything was held in common. | Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common. |
God saved us and called us to a life of holiness, not because of our works but according to his own purpose and the grace that has been bestowed upon us in Christ Jesus from all eternity. | Who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began. |
So I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. | Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. |
Whatever you ask in my name I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. | And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. |
Indeed, the Lord God does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants, the prophets. | Surely the Lord God does nothing, Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets. |
If you abide in me and my words abide in you, you may ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. | If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. |
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. | “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. |
What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his very life? Or what can he give in exchange for his life? | For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? |
But who am I, and what are your people, that we should be able to do this? All things belong to you, and everything that we have given you is from your hand. | But who am I, and who are my people, That we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from You, And of Your own we have given You. |
Examine me, O God, and know my heart; test me and understand my thoughts. See if I follow an evil way, and guide me on the way to eternity. | Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting. |
The one who eats everything must not look contemptuously on the one who does not, and the one who abstains must not pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed both. | Let not him who eats despise him who does not eat, and let not him who does not eat judge him who eats; for God has received him. |
Turn away from youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, together with those who call on the Lord with a pure heart. | Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. |
Who then can separate us from the love of Christ? Will hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or the sword? | Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? |
Recognizing that laws are not designed for the upright. They are for the lawless and insubordinate, for the godless and sinful, for the unholy and irreligious; they are for those who slay their fathers and mothers, for murderers, for those who are fornicators, sodomites, slave traders, liars, perjurers, and for whatever else is contrary to the sound teaching that conforms to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which has been entrusted to me. | Knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine, according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God which was committed to my trust. |
