| For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. | Because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. |

| Pay your taxes, too, for these same reasons. For government workers need to be paid. They are serving God in what they do. | This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. |
| And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. | Either way, Christ’s love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life.
