| The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” | I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. |
| So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall. | Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. |

| Slaves must always obey their masters and do their best to please them. They must not talk back or steal, but must show themselves to be entirely trustworthy and good. Then they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive in every way. | Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again; Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. |

| See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! | By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. | Don’t envy violent people or copy their ways. Such wicked people are detestable to the Lord, but he offers his friendship to the godly. | Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways. For the froward is abomination to the Lord: but his secret is with the righteous. |

| For God saved us and called us to live a holy life.
