- The fear of man brings a snare,
But whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe. - Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.
- Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things.
- Let no one seek his own, but each one the other’s well-being.
- Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.
- But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
- He is despised and rejected by men,
A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;
He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. - A highway shall be there, and a road,
And it shall be called the Highway of Holiness.
The unclean shall not pass over it,
But it shall be for others.
Whoever walks the road, although a fool,
Shall not go astray. - Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law.
- Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
- Salvation belongs to the Lord.
Your blessing is upon Your people. Selah - Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.
- Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another.
- The Lord makes poor and makes rich;
He brings low and lifts up. - Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
- One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind.
- And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.
- Judge not, that you be not judged.
- Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.
- Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion.
- But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.”
- Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, leading to edification.
- Whoever hides hatred has lying lips,
And whoever spreads slander is a fool. - Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
- Not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.
