- A wise son brings joy to his father,
but a foolish son gives grief to his mother. - The blessing of the Lord is what brings wealth,
and our toil adds nothing to it. - Bring the tithes in full into the treasury
so that there may be food in my house.
Put me thus to the test,
says the Lord of hosts,
and see if I will not open
the windows of heaven for you
and pour down blessings upon you
without measure. - I will strengthen the house of Judah,
and I will save the house of Joseph.
I will bring them back
because I have taken pity on them,
and they will be
as though I had never cast them off;
for I am the Lord, their God,
and I will answer them. - The hope of the righteous brings them joy,
but the expectations of the wicked are frustrated. - If you listen to the voice of the Lord, your God, and you do what is right in his sight, if you listen to his ordinances and observe all of his laws, I will not bring upon you any of the diseases that I brought upon the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.
- Treasures obtained by wicked means profit nothing,
but a righteous life brings delivery from death. - For no one can be regarded as justified in the sight of God by keeping the Law. The Law brings only the consciousness of sin.
- To these God chose to make known how rich is the priceless glory that this mystery brings to the Gentiles—Christ in you, your hope of glory.
