For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. | For everyone born of God conquers the world. And the victory that conquers the world is our faith. |
Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. | Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. |

A wise child brings joy to a father; a foolish child brings grief to a mother. | A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son gives grief to his mother. |
For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. | Those who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. |
For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. | For a child has been born to us, a son has been given to us. Upon his shoulders dominion rests, and this is the name he has been given: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. |
Never! Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for the child she has borne? But even if that were possible, I would not forget you! See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands. Always in my mind is a picture of Jerusalem’s walls in ruins. | Can a woman forget the infant at her breast; or feel no compassion for the child of her womb? Even should she forget, I will never forget you. Behold, I have inscribed your name on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before my eyes. |
God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God. | Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. |
All who declare that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God. | God abides in anyone who acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, and that person abides in God. |
Heal the sick, and tell them, ‘The Kingdom of God is near you now.’ | Cure the sick who are there, and say, ‘The kingdom of God has come unto you.’ |
Jesus replied, “But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.” | Jesus replied, “Blessed, rather, are those who hear the word of God and obey it!” |
Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection. | Every word of God has proved to be true; he is a shield to those who trust in him. |
Think about it: Just as a parent disciplines a child, the Lord your God disciplines you for your own good. | Thus you could understand that the Lord, your God, was disciplining you, just like a father disciplines his son. |
So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. | Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God. |
Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. | And take the helmet of salvation as well as the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. |
And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God. | Who indeed conquers the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? |
And every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. | And every tongue should proclaim to the glory of God the Father: Jesus Christ is Lord. |
It was by faith that even Sarah was able to have a child, though she was barren and was too old. She believed that God would keep his promise. | By faith Abraham also received the power of procreation, even though he was well past the age—and Sarah herself was barren—because he believed that the one who had made the promise would be faithful in fulfilling it. |
Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. | Hence, be imitators of God, as beloved children. |
My child, if your heart is wise, my own heart will rejoice! | My son, if your heart is wise, then my heart will be glad. |
All of this occurred to fulfill the Lord’s message through his prophet: “Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’” | All this took place in order to fulfill what the Lord had announced through the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and give birth to a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel,” a name that means “God is with us.” |
Just as you cannot understand the path of the wind or the mystery of a tiny baby growing in its mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the activity of God, who does all things. | Just as you do not know the path of the wind or how the body is formed in a woman’s womb, so you do not know the work of God, the Creator of all. |
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. | For the wages of sin is death, but the gift freely given by God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. |
So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. | Therefore, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, so that at the proper time he may exalt you. |
But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. | However, to those who did accept him and who believed in his name he granted the power to become children of God. |
Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.” | Jesus replied, “Amen, amen, I say to you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born from above.” |
