When pride comes, then comes shame; But with the humble is wisdom. | When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. |
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. | Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. |

Truly my soul silently waits for God; From Him comes my salvation. | Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. |
I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. | I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. |
This also comes from the Lord of hosts, Who is wonderful in counsel and excellent in guidance. | All this also comes from the Lord Almighty, whose plan is wonderful, whose wisdom is magnificent. |
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” | Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” |
And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.” | Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” |
By pride comes nothing but strife, But with the well-advised is wisdom. | Where there is strife, there is pride, but wisdom is found in those who take advice. |
For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning. | For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning. |
But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God. | But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God. |
But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. | When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me. |
Save now, I pray, O Lord; O Lord, I pray, send now prosperity. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! We have blessed you from the house of the Lord. | Lord, save us! Lord, grant us success! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. From the house of the Lord we bless you. |
I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain. | I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing! |

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. | And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. |
And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment. | When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment. |
Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it. For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. | So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. |

But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ” | Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” |
And He said, “What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile a man.” | He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person.” |
Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit. | But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit. |
