To learn, you must love discipline; it is stupid to hate correction. | Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, But he who hates correction is stupid. |
I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and turn from your indifference. | As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. |

But consider the joy of those corrected by God! Do not despise the discipline of the Almighty when you sin. | Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects; Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty. |
Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord. | And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord. |
My child, don’t reject the Lord’s discipline, and don’t be upset when he corrects you. For the Lord corrects those he loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights. | My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor detest His correction; For whom the Lord loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights. |
For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. | For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. |
Only a fool despises a parent’s discipline; whoever learns from correction is wise. | A fool despises his father’s instruction, But he who receives correction is prudent. |
No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way. | Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. |
