| Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient. | They exchanged the truth of God for a lie and offered worship and service to the creature rather than to the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. That is why God abandoned them to their shameful passions. Their women exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural practices. Likewise, men gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another. Men committed shameful acts with men and received in their own persons the fitting penalty for their perversion. Furthermore, since these people did not see fit to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their depraved way of thinking and to all types of vile behavior. |
| In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. | I also ask that the women should dress themselves modestly and decently in suitable clothing. They should be adorned not with braided hair or with gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good works, as is fitting for women who profess their reverence for God. |

| These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. | All of these were constantly engaged in prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. |
| And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. | But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid! I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has been raised, as he promised he would be. Come and see the place where he lay.” |
| For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. | I shall forgive them for their wicked deeds, and I shall remember their sins no more. |
| He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination. | When anyone turns a deaf ear to the law, even his prayer is detestable. |
| So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. | In the same way, husbands should love their wives as they do their own bodies. The man who loves his wife loves himself. |
| And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you. | Even when you reach old age I will still be the same. Even when your hair is gray, I will still carry you. I have made you and I will uphold you; I will carry you and save you. |
| He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds. | He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds. |
| If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. | And if then my people who bear my name humble themselves and pray to me and seek my presence as they turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear them from heaven and forgive their sins and restore their land. |
| Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding. | Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise; if he closes his lips, he is regarded as intelligent. |
| But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled. | Yet even if you should suffer for doing what is right, you are thereby blessed. Have no fear of others, and refuse to be intimidated by them. |
| And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same. | And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do as much. |
| The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry. | The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry. |
| And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away. | Then, after completing their fasting and prayer, they laid their hands on them and sent them off. |
| Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. | Two are better than one: they earn a far greater reward for their toil. |
| Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. | Whenever you fast, do not assume a gloomy expression like the hypocrites who contort their faces so that others may realize that they are fasting. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward. |
| Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers. | Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of children is their parents. |
| For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them. | It was not their own swords that won them the land, nor did their own arms make them victorious; rather, it was your right hand and your arm and the light of your face, because you loved them. |
| Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. | Behold, he is coming with the clouds; every eye will see him, even those who pierced him. All the peoples of the earth will mourn him. So shall it be. Amen. |
| Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. | You believe that there is one God. You do well to assert that. But even the demons believe and tremble. |
| According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted; therefore have they forgotten me. | When I fed them, they were satisfied; when they were satisfied, they became proud of heart and quickly forgot me. |
| For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. | For even the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many. |
| Therefore also now, saith the Lord, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning. | Yet even now, says the Lord, return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning. |
| And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. | After he said this, he was lifted up as they looked on, and a cloud took him from their sight. |
