Who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting. | Because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. For this reason God gave them up to degrading passions. Their women exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural, and in the same way also the men, giving up natural intercourse with women, were consumed with passion for one another. Men committed shameless acts with men and received in their own persons the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind and to things that should not be done. |
In like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works. | Also that the women should dress themselves modestly and decently in suitable clothing, not with their hair braided, or with gold, pearls, or expensive clothes, but with good works, as is proper for women who profess reverence for God. |

These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers. | All these were constantly devoting themselves to prayer, together with certain women, including Mary the mother of Jesus, as well as his brothers. |
But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.” | But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for he has been raised, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.” |
But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.” | But even if you do suffer for doing what is right, you are blessed. Do not fear what they fear, and do not be intimidated. |
For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more. | For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more. |
Even to your old age, I am He, And even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver you. | Even to your old age I am he, even when you turn gray I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save. |
One who turns away his ear from hearing the law, Even his prayer is an abomination. | When one will not listen to the law, even one's prayers are an abomination. |
So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. | In the same way, husbands should love their wives as they do their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. |
He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds. | He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds. |
Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace; When he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive. | Even fools who keep silent are considered wise; when they close their lips, they are deemed intelligent. |
You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! | You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder. |
If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. | If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. |
And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. | If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. |
Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen. | Look! He is coming with the clouds; every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and on his account all the tribes of the earth will wail. So it is to be. Amen. |
The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry. | The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry. |
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many. | For the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many. |
Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor. | Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. |
Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. | And whenever you fast, do not look dismal, like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces so as to show others that they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward. |
For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword, Nor did their own arm save them; But it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your countenance, Because You favored them. | For not by their own sword did they win the land, nor did their own arm give them victory; but your right hand, and your arm, and the light of your countenance, for you delighted in them. |
Children’s children are the crown of old men, And the glory of children is their father. | Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of children is their parents. |
But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints. | But fornication and impurity of any kind, or greed, must not even be mentioned among you, as is proper among saints. |
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. | Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what such people do secretly. |
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. | For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have died. |
Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. | When he had said this, as they were watching, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. |
