Fear not (4/4)

If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine. And anyone who does not take up his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son.Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe in him already stands condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the only-begotten Son of God.
You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is beneficial.“All things are lawful,” you may say—but not all things are beneficial. All things may be lawful—but not all things are constructive.
Those who feel free to eat anything must not look down on those who don’t. And those who don’t eat certain foods must not condemn those who do, for God has accepted them. The one who eats everything must not look contemptuously on the one who does not, and the one who abstains must not pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed both.
Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you.Do not love the world or what is in the world. If anyone does love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; nor will the waters engulf you. When you walk through fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not consume you.
Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.Fix your thoughts on things that are above, not on things that are on the earth.
An honest witness does not lie; a false witness breathes lies.A truthful witness does not lie, but a false witness lies incessantly.
Remember, you must not make any idols of silver or gold to rival me.Do not make gods from silver or from gold instead of me. You will not make them for yourselves.
Then he added, “Now go and learn the meaning of this Scripture: ‘I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices.’ For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.”Go and learn what this text means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ I have come to call not the righteous but sinners.
You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything.“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are beneficial. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not allow myself to be dominated by anything.
Can he walk on hot coals and not blister his feet?Or can a man walk on red-hot coals without scorching his feet?

Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth! I came not to bring peace, but a sword.Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace but a sword.
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. Those who place their hope in the Lord will regain their strength. They will soar as with eagles’ wings, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not become faint.
Arise, O Lord! Punish the wicked, O God! Do not ignore the helpless!Arise, O Lord! Lift up your hand, O God! Do not forget the afflicted.
So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.Let us never grow weary in doing what is right, for if we do not give up, we will reap our harvest in due time.
I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent.I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.
