| For you, brothers, were called for freedom. Only don’t use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love be servants to one another. | Brethren, you were called to freedom. | Yahweh will also be a high tower for the oppressed; a high tower in times of trouble. | The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of distress. |
| If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna. | If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. It is preferable for you to lose one part of your body than to have your whole body thrown into Gehenna. |
| Always rejoice. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you. | Rejoice always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus. |
| Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life. | Guard your heart with all possible vigilance, for from it flow the wellsprings of life. |
| Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. | Two are better than one: they earn a far greater reward for their toil. |
| Behold, I am Yahweh, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for me? | I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything impossible for me to accomplish? |
| Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. | No one can have greater love than to lay down his life for his friends. |
