- The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit.
O God, you will not despise a broken and contrite heart. - A man’s pride brings him low,
but one of lowly spirit gains honor. - Blessed is the man who trusts in Yahweh,
and whose confidence is in Yahweh.
For he will be as a tree planted by the waters,
who spreads out its roots by the river,
and will not fear when heat comes,
but its leaf will be green,
and will not be concerned in the year of drought.
It won’t cease from yielding fruit. - Create in me a clean heart, O God.
Renew a right spirit within me. - Having therefore these promises, beloved, let’s cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
- Don’t you know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you?
- For he who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption. But he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
- For even though the fig tree doesn’t flourish,
nor fruit be in the vines,
the labor of the olive fails,
the fields yield no food,
the flocks are cut off from the fold,
and there is no herd in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in Yahweh.
I will be joyful in the God of my salvation! - Jesus answered, “Most certainly I tell you, unless one is born of water and Spirit, he can’t enter into God’s Kingdom.”
- In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered.
- But if the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
- For I know that this will turn out to my salvation through your prayers and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ.
- Teach me to do your will,
for you are my God.
Your Spirit is good.
Lead me in the land of uprightness. - There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death.
- A cheerful heart makes good medicine,
but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. - Not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord.
- You shall be holy to me, for I, Yahweh, am holy, and have set you apart from the peoples, that you should be mine.
- Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men.
- I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes. You will keep my ordinances and do them.
- Watch and pray, that you don’t enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
- For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
- That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him.
