He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” | So he answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’ ” |
Thus you could understand that the Lord, your God, was disciplining you, just like a father disciplines his son. | You should know in your heart that as a man chastens his son, so the Lord your God chastens you. |

However, to those who did accept him and who believed in his name he granted the power to become children of God. | But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name. |
