God as friend (3/4)

I rejoice in following your statutes more than I would rejoice in endless riches.I have rejoiced in your laws as much as in riches.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.
How great you are, Lord God! There is no one like you, and there is no God except you alone, as everything that we have heard confirms. How great you are, O Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you. We have never even heard of another God like you!
The Lord God is my strength; he makes my feet as swift as those of a deer and enables me to tread on the heights. The Sovereign Lord is my strength! He makes me as surefooted as a deer, able to tread upon the heights.
How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from acts that lead to death so that we may worship the living God.Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God. For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ offered himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins.
Therefore, brethren, I implore you by the mercies of God to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice that is holy and acceptable to God—a spiritual act of worship. And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.
And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us.
For nothing will be impossible for God.For the word of God will never fail.
This is what love is: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as expiation for our sins. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
In it the righteousness of God is revealed, beginning in faith and established in faith. As it is written: “The one who is righteous will live through faith.”This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”
Rather, seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and man, Christ Jesus, himself a man. For, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus.
The Lord commanded us to observe all of these statutes and to fear the Lord, our God, so that we might always prosper and be kept alive, even as we are today. And the Lord our God commanded us to obey all these decrees and to fear him so he can continue to bless us and preserve our lives, as he has done to this day.
Thereupon the Lord restored the prosperity of Job after he had prayed for his friends, and he enriched him with twice as much as he had possessed before. When Job prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes. In fact, the Lord gave him twice as much as before!
Although it was our afflictions that he bore, our sufferings that he endured, we thought of him as stricken, as struck down by God and afflicted.Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins!
In God, whose word I praise, in God I place my trust and know no fear; what can people do to me?I praise God for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me?
The second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
For as it is written, “Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor has the human heart imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”
Just as you do not know the path of the wind or how the body is formed in a woman’s womb, so you do not know the work of God, the Creator of all.Just as you cannot understand the path of the wind or the mystery of a tiny baby growing in its mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the activity of God, who does all things.
And we are witnesses to these things, as is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him.We are witnesses of these things and so is the Holy Spirit, who is given by God to those who obey him.
Protect me, O God, for in you I take refuge.Keep me safe, O God, for I have come to you for refuge.
Therefore, strive to be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect. But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.
This is my commandment: love one another as I have loved you. This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you.
My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a contrite and humble heart, O God, you will not spurn. The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.
For God would not be so unjust as to ignore your work and the love that you have shown for his name by the services you have rendered to the saints and still continue to render. For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do.

He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”The man answered, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

Bible verse of the day

And as we gaze upon the glory of the Lord with unveiled faces, all of us are being transformed into that same image from glory to glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
