| God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. | For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast. |

| Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them. | Don’t withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do it. |

In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love. | But you, beloved, keep building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit. | The man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and he receives favor from the Lord. | Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of Yahweh. |

| If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom. | Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by his good conduct that his deeds are done in gentleness of wisdom. |
