Bible Verses about 'Grief'

For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow. For with much wisdom comes much sorrow; the more knowledge, the more grief.
A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.
He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.
For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.
The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall. The wise in heart accept commands, but a chattering fool comes to ruin.
Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity. So then, banish anxiety from your heart and cast off the troubles of your body, for youth and vigor are meaningless.
And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.
Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship and said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.”
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
