Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him. | Is anyone among you sick? He should send for the presbyters of the Church so that they may pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven. |

For this reason also God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth. | Because of this, God greatly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above all other names, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth. |
Opening his mouth, Peter said: “I most certainly understand now that God is not one to show partiality, but in every nation the one who fears Him and does what is right is acceptable to Him.” | Then Peter addressed them: “I now understand how true it is that God has no favorites, but that in every nation all those who fear God and do what is right are acceptable to him.” |
While they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. | While they were there, the time came for her to have her child, and she gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. |
I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. | I can do all things in him who strengthens me. |
But when they saw Him walking on the sea, they thought that it was a ghost, and they cried out; for they all saw Him and were terrified. But immediately He spoke with them and said to them, “Take courage; it is I, do not be afraid.” | But when the disciples saw him walking on the water they thought it was a ghost and they cried out, for they all had seen him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them, saying, “Have courage! It is I! Do not be afraid!” |
And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him. | And we are witnesses to these things, as is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him. |
For to you it has been granted for Christ’s sake, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer on His behalf. | For it has been granted you not only to believe in Christ but also to suffer for him. |
Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God; and whatever we ask, we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight. | Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we can approach God with confidence and receive from him whatever we ask, because we obey his commandments and do whatever is pleasing to him. |
For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him. | For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world but in order that the world might be saved through him. |
And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were watching, and a cloud took Him up, out of their sight. | After he said this, he was lifted up as they looked on, and a cloud took him from their sight. |
As for God, His way is blameless; The word of the Lord is refined; He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him. | The way of God is blameless, and the Lord’s promise proves true; he is a shield to all who flee to him for safety. |
But whoever has worldly goods and sees his brother or sister in need, and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God remain in him? | If anyone is rich in worldly possessions and sees a brother in need but refuses to open his heart, how can the love of God abide in him? |
For in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His descendants.’ | For ‘In him we live and move and have our being.’ As even your own poets have said, ‘We are all his offspring.’ |
That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death. | All I want is to come to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and to share in his sufferings by becoming conformed to his death. |
For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. | For I resolved that, while I was with you, I would know nothing except Jesus Christ—and him crucified. |
As for God, His way is blameless; The word of the Lord is refined; He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him. | The way of God is blameless; the Lord’s promise has proved true. He is a shield to all who take refuge in him. |
Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Exalt Him who rides through the deserts, Whose name is the Lord, and be jubilant before Him. A father of the fatherless and a judge for the widows, Is God in His holy dwelling. | Sing to God, sing praise to his name; exalt him who rides upon the clouds. Rejoice in the presence of this God whose name is the Lord. The Father of orphans and the defender of widows: such is God in his holy dwelling place. |
This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. | And thus we can have confidence in him that if we ask anything that is in accordance with his will, he hears us. |
The afflictions of the righteous are many, But the Lord rescues him from them all. | The misfortunes of the righteous man are many, but the Lord delivers him, from all of them. |
Only fear the Lord and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you. | Only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with your whole heart, considering the great things he has done for you. |
Only be very careful to follow the commandment and the Law which Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, to love the Lord your God and walk in all His ways, and keep His commandments and cling to Him, and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul. | Take heed to follow the commandments and the laws that Moses, the servant of the Lord, gave you: to love the Lord, your God, and to walk in his ways and to observe his commandments, holding fast to him and serving him with all your heart and all your soul. |
