He who overcomes will be arrayed in white garments, and I will in no way blot his name out of the book of life, and I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. | All who are victorious will be clothed in white. For Yahweh takes pleasure in his people. He crowns the humble with salvation. | For the Lord delights in his people; he crowns the humble with victory. |
There remains therefore a Sabbath rest for the people of God. For he who has entered into his rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from his. | So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God. For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world. |
Yahweh’s eyes are toward the righteous. His ears listen to their cry. | The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right; his ears are open to their cries for help. |
Yahweh is slow to anger, and great in power, and will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. Yahweh has his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet. | The Lord is slow to get angry, but his power is great, and he never lets the guilty go unpunished. He displays his power in the whirlwind and the storm. The billowing clouds are the dust beneath his feet. |
Great is Yahweh, and greatly to be praised! His greatness is unsearchable. | Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise! No one can measure his greatness. |
For Yahweh gives wisdom. Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. | For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. |
She shall give birth to a son. You shall name him Jesus, for it is he who shall save his people from their sins. | And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins. |

If you will diligently listen to Yahweh your God’s voice, and will do that which is right in his eyes, and will pay attention to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians; for I am Yahweh who heals you. | If you will listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in his sight, obeying his commands and keeping all his decrees, then I will not make you suffer any of the diseases I sent on the Egyptians; for I am the Lord who heals you. |
A wise son makes a glad father; but a foolish son brings grief to his mother. | A wise child brings joy to a father; a foolish child brings grief to a mother. |
With his mouth the godless man destroys his neighbor, but the righteous will be delivered through knowledge. | With their words, the godless destroy their friends, but knowledge will rescue the righteous. |
Oh give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever. | Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. |
His Son is the radiance of his glory, the very image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, who, when he had by himself purified us of our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high. | The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven. |
Seeing that his divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue. | By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. |
For I command you today to love Yahweh your God, to walk in his ways and to keep his commandments, his statutes, and his ordinances, that you may live and multiply, and that Yahweh your God may bless you in the land where you go in to possess it. | For I command you this day to love the Lord your God and to keep his commands, decrees, and regulations by walking in his ways. He who walks blamelessly and does what is right, and speaks truth in his heart; he who doesn’t slander with his tongue, nor does evil to his friend, nor casts slurs against his fellow man. | Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right, speaking the truth from sincere hearts. Those who refuse to gossip or harm their neighbors or speak evil of their friends. |
The testimony is this: that God gave to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. | And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. |
That he may guard the paths of justice, and preserve the way of his saints. | He guards the paths of the just and protects those who are faithful to him. |
But he knows the way that I take. When he has tried me, I will come out like gold. My foot has held fast to his steps. I have kept his way, and not turned away. | But he knows where I am going. And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold. For I have stayed on God’s paths; I have followed his ways and not turned aside. |
Behold, Yahweh’s eye is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his loving kindness. | But the Lord watches over those who fear him, those who rely on his unfailing love. |
The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom. All those who do his work have a good understanding. His praise endures forever! | Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom. All who obey his commandments will grow in wisdom. Praise him forever! |
By this we know that we remain in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. | And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us. |
He who keeps the commandment keeps his soul, but he who is contemptuous in his ways shall die. | Keep the commandments and keep your life; despising them leads to death. |
Like a father has compassion on his children, so Yahweh has compassion on those who fear him. | The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him. |
