After this, he said to the crowd, “Take care to be on your guard against all kinds of greed. Life does not depend upon an abundance of one’s possessions.”And he said to them, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”
The birth of Jesus Christ occurred in this way. When his mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, but before they came to live together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit.
One who is covetous will never be satisfied with money, nor will the lover of wealth be content with gain. This too is vanity. He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves wealth with his income; this also is vanity.
Only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with your whole heart, considering the great things he has done for you.Only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things he has done for you.
Rather, put on the Lord Jesus Christ and allow no opportunity for the flesh to gratify its sinful desires. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.
For no one can be regarded as justified in the sight of God by keeping the Law. The Law brings only the consciousness of sin.For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin.
And you will say on that day: Give thanks to the Lord, invoke his name; make known his deeds among the nations; proclaim that his name is exalted. And you will say in that day: “Give thanks to the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the peoples, proclaim that his name is exalted.”
For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may attain eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Your kindness is a greater joy than life itself; thus my lips will speak your praise. So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands.
We have come to know and to believe in the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God in him.So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.
All those who keep his commandments abide in him, and he abides in them. And the proof that he abides in us is the Spirit that he has given us.Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us.

But Jesus has now received a ministry that is far superior, for he is the mediator of a far better covenant that has been established on better promises. But as it is, Christ has obtained a ministry that is as much more excellent than the old as the covenant he mediates is better, since it is enacted on better promises.
But I have had help from God to this very day, and I stand here and testify to both the lowly and the great. I assert nothing more than what the Prophets and Moses said would occur: that the Christ must suffer, and that, by being the first to rise from the dead, he would proclaim light to the people and to the Gentiles. To this day I have had the help that comes from God, and so I stand here testifying both to small and great, saying nothing but what the prophets and Moses said would come to pass: that the Christ must suffer and that, by being the first to rise from the dead, he would proclaim light both to our people and to the Gentiles.

One day, as Jesus was passing through a field of grain on the Sabbath, his disciples began to pick some heads of grain as they walked along. The Pharisees said to him, “Behold, why are your disciples doing what is forbidden on the Sabbath?” He answered, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need of food? He entered the house of God when Abiathar was high priest and ate the sacred bread that only the priests were permitted to eat, and he shared it with his companions.” Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. That is why the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”One Sabbath he was going through the grainfields, and as they made their way, his disciples began to pluck heads of grain. And the Pharisees were saying to him, “Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath?” And he said to them, “Have you never read what David did, when he was in need and was hungry, he and those who were with him: how he entered the house of God, in the time of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the bread of the Presence, which it is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and also gave it to those who were with him?” And he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath.”
